Want a unique, extravagant wedding and honeymoon? The obvious place for a somewhat unconventional wedding is Las Vegas. This can be either cheap or very expensive, depending how you do it!
Getting married in Las Vegas is simple. Aside from travel expenses, the estimated budget for such a wedding is approximately $700. Why hesitate?
Costs include: the marriage license, approximately $30, the civil ceremony, $50; and the chapel offering the ceremony, the "celebrity witnesses," limousine and photos, for an amount between $200 and $500. If you want fancy extras, the expense may be a little higher.
Places in Las Vegas to get married:
A simple civil ceremony:
Make an appointment with the Las Vegas Marriage Commissioner. Marriage may be had directly in the office of the Commissioner in 30 minutes at a cost of $50.
A religious ceremony:
Visit one of the famous chapels. Simple, classic or crazy, it's all there!
You can find chapels with the picturesque appearance of a church surrounded by gardens of roses along the Las Vegas strip (which also includes casinos, bars and poker palaces). For a mere $200 - $500 you can buy a wedding package that includes use of the chapel, the wedding ceremony, flowers, music and photos. The packages may include more expensive options like transfers from your hotel by stretch limo and Elvis Presley as a witness.
The casino chapels:
For a medieval wedding, go to the Excalibur, an MGM Grand ride of a marriage, a marriage of Treasure Island pirates aboard the ship HMS Britannia. Or try the Las Vegas Hilton, which offers a wedding aboard the Star Trek spaceship Enterprise, with Klingon and Ferengi guests. Casino packages may rise from $350 - $3,500 and beyond. They usually include one or more nights in a hotel "honeymoon" suite with photos, flowers, music, entertainment and a complete beauty treatment in their spa.
For your honeymoon, go on a cruise ship:
Monarch of the Seas:
As tall as the Statue of Liberty, the amenities and entertainment of this ship are unmatched. With the Monarch, you can discover Mexico and make ports of call in the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, as well as stops in Catalina Island and Ensenada for five days for a wonderful change of scenery.
Jewel of the Seas:
Commissioned in May 2004, the Jewel of the Seas epitomizes the innovative super yachts. It has an advanced design with large windows and public spaces and glass elevators overlooking the ocean.
Your choices in travelling on this ship include discovering Caribbean Transatlantic Europe. The "must" for the Caribbean awaits you from the ports of Fort Lauderdale, Key West, Cozumel, Costa Maya, Georgetown. For lovers of Europe, past stops have allowed guests to discover Copenhagen, Oslo and Hamburg, maybe all of Scandinavia, and Russia, or visits to Harwich, Oslo, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki, St. Petersburg and Tallinn.
Voyager of the Seas:
Destination Caribbean. This ship is the largest in the world, so take full advantage of the available space; you'll find more activities and experiences than you can imagine. A climbing wall is waiting for you to practice your flexibility and view the ocean from a new angle. Departing from Miami, past stops have included Nassau, St. Thomas, San Juan, Labadie, and two days at sea before returning to the starting point.
Also try the famous ice rink (where you can also enjoy good chocolate). The night-life is also impressive: the shops, cafes and other attractions are all open to you. Finally, dance through the night at Jesters, an extravagant club on two floors.
