As we ever-so-slowly creep into the sunnier months of early spring, it's time to leave those bulky winter coats behind and start looking forward to more lightweight outerwear. Light jackets, linen trenches, jersey motos, and my favorite preppy-chic piece, the fitted tweed jacket. Despite the traditional uppity "ladies who lunch" connotation of a tweed suit jacket, the style is transforming into a casual spring transition staple, perfect to be thrown over jeans and a tee with some cute bow flats, or paired with a casual springy dress for instant Sunday brunch cuteness. Despite its purposely shrunken fit and tailoring, the look still maintains a little edge with zipper details, bold stitching, and some switch things up and refrain from being too boxy with blazer-inspired silhouettes that hug snugly for a streamlined fit. What's especially great about a tweed jacket is that it can be easily dressed up or down, and taken from work to cocktail hour without looking too casual or too buttoned-up, depending on how you wear it!
