Here are the directions for making an affordable, easy and gorgeous backdrop to use behind your Head Table, Cake Table, or any other spot you wish! I am including drawings and pictures of the project. These directions will be for 1 section (5ft. wide x 8 ft. tall). You can make as many sections as you need. For example, if your head table is 16 ft. long, you can either make 3 sections to equal 15 ft. and leave 6 inches on either side blank or you could make 4 sections to equal 20 ft. and have a 2 ft. overhang on either end. It is really versatile. Let’s get to it!

Materials Needed: (One—5ft. X 8ft. Section)

2—PVC elbow connectors

4—T shaped connectors

2—5’ PVC pipe (top & bottom rails)

2—8’ PVC pipes (sides)

2—8” PVC pipes (feet)

2—4” PVC pipes (feet)

2—2” PVC pipes

2—4’ x 6’ set of white net lights (the kind that go on a bush)

2—white curtain sheers (61” x 96”) (available at Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target)

1—package of nylon cable ties

Cut the PVC pipes to the lengths listed above

#1 Connect one 8” and one 4” PVC pipes to one of the “T” connectors. Repeat with the other 8” and 4” pipes and connector. These will serve as the feet for the backdrop. (fig. 1)

#2 Put a 2” pipe into the top opening and then a “T” connector on top of the 2” pipe. Do this to both feet. The finished should look like this: (fig. 2 & Photo 1 & 2)

#3 Now place one 5’ pole into the side opening of the top “T”connector and place the other end of the 5’ pole into the side opening of the other foot. (See fig. 3 for an overhead view)

#4 Get one 8’ pole and put it in the top opening of the “T” connector that is in the middle of a foot. Do the same with the other 8’ pole into the other foot. You should now have a “U Shape” with feet.

#5 Now place an elbow connector at the top of each of the 8’ poles.

#6 Take the curtain sheers and feed the BOTTOM , hemmed edge through a 5’ pipe. Then attach the 5’ pole to the two elbow connectors.

#6 The frame is now complete. The short (4”) pipe is the back of the frame. At this point, hook the sheers out of your way as you attach the net lighting with the nylon ties. Secure the lighting at the top and sides with the ties.

Don’t worry, the net lighting will stretch to fit the area. Make sure the plug for the lights is toward the bottom so you can plug it in. Don’t worry if the lights don’t go all the way to the bottom of the frame. That part will be hidden by the table and the lights stretch.

Optional: If you wish to make the backdrop bigger, simply replace the connectors on one end from an “elbow” to a “T” connector. And the “T” connector on the foot to a “+” connector.

This backdrop is very versatile and can be decorated with all different fabrics to achieve the look you want. Below are pictures of the finished product in different uses. Good Luck!
