Like probably everyone else sitting at a computer these last few days, watching as more and more incredibly frightening images of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan come online, I just have to tear myself away because it's so heartbreaking. On a more uplifting note, however, there's a miraculous story about a four-month-old baby that was pulled from the rubble and reunited with her parents. We can only hope that there will be many more of these happy endings. In desperate need of some distraction and wanting to support all things Japanese, I wandered into Uniqlo yesterday and stumbled upon this incredibly cool Military Parka from their +J line. In this photo it appears quite ordinary, but no, it has some very Alexander Wang-ish details, like the elasticized drawstrings at the back that allow for some controlled ruching, and the jauntily angled covered pockets. The hardware is high-quality and the fabric is waterproof, so never fear if you get caught in a spring shower. It's $99.00 from Uniqlo. Uniqlo's parent company is donating 700 million yen worth of clothing to Japan's disaster victims. If you'd like to find out more about how to help Japan and donate money, visit this page.
