Bridal Party Gifts on a Budget

Does your best man really need (or want!) another monogrammed beer stein or whiskey flask?  Why not consider giving something practical with a touch of class?  It can be done with less money than you think!  Set your budget and plan accordingly.  My husband and I set a budget of $50 per person and came in way under budget.  Here’s how we did it!

Groomsman gifts can be tough! We wanted to give them something practical yet memorable, so we decided to take the accessories route. And we’re not talking cuff-links that will never be worn again.  The men in our bridal party rented tuxedos for the occasion, but we purchased beautiful silk ties to match that they could keep.  We found an online retailer who sold them to us in bulk for under $10 a piece.

The bridesmaids were pretty easy. We bought simple and elegant jewelry that we found at Walmart--yes, Walmart.  We took the tags off and placed the necklace, earrings, and bracelet into a beautiful velvet box.  Each set rang in for less than $15.

Coming in way under budget, we decided to purchase high-end watches for the bridal party as well.  At only $29.99 a piece, we scored Anne Klein and Kenneth Cole watches from Burlington Coat Factory on the clearance rack.   What a steal!

The key to finding the perfect bridal party gift at the right price is to keep your eyes open all year long.  Although we went with an accessories theme, you can choose something more suitable for your bridal party or theme of your wedding.

Stuck for ideas?  Try my signature gift giving strategy, the “Gift of Three” and save money, time and stress!
  1. *Think of an experience that you would like to give rather than a specific gift.  For example, if you would like to give the gift of relaxation to your bridesmaids, build a theme around a home spa or pampering experience.

  1. *Choose one central gift that will be the foundation or centerpiece of the gift experience.  Remember, you are building a gift with three crucial components.  This gift should be the main focus.  For example, a pair of cozy slippers may also come in handy at the reception!

  1. *Choose two smaller gifts that will tie the theme together.  To save major moolah, consider making gift items by hand or baking gifts from your kitchen.  Herbal teas, hot chocolate, gourmet truffles, relaxation CD’s, or luxurious lotions can be mixed and matched to speak the theme.
Got it?  Now what are your ideas for the guys using the “Gift of Three” strategy?  Can’t wait to hear them!
